TREK ARNHEM LAND
DREAMING of KAKADU
"Hi,
I'm Jenny; that's my brother Fred on the spotlight boat above, and me next to the
campfire weaving a basket. It's easy, I'll teach you, anyone can do it! Maybe
you want to learn how to throw a spear, play the didgeridoo with the boys,
experience Kakadu's only night wildlife boat cruise, or try our 3 course dinner
cooked on the coals. And if you want to camp the night with us, we can put you
up in one of our deluxe safari tents.
We have got lots of new tours happening in 2008, some operating all year round. Look at our website
and check out our photo album to see how you can have a close-up experience of
Kakadu's living Aboriginal culture and amazing wildlife. So c'mon, we'll get the fire going, boil the billy
for a hot cuppa and have a chat!
We're way out bush in the middle of Kakadu,
you'll love it!
Any
questions? Just e-mail us or give us a ring. We look forward
to welcoming you to the Kakadu Culture Camp. See you soon, Boh Boh; that's
Goodbye in our Gundjeihmi language!"
Our cultural & wILDLIFE tours
The Kakadu Culture Camp is

Limited numbers of
guests also assures a quality, educational and uplifting cross cultural
experience.
We cater especially for international visitors and also Australian
travellers who want to learn from the
locals first hand, about Kakadu's cultural landscapes and the
amazing wildlife and biodiversity.
You can download our 2007 brochure (refer web site for 2008 A$ prices) from our
Bookings page on this web site.
As seen on Channel Nine's 'Getaway' program, we
have a variety of tours available in 2008 including our Aboriginal Culture and Night Wildlife Boat Cruise and Kakadu by Night.
Our cultural activities including spear
throwing, didgeridoo and basket weaving interactive demonstrations, as well as
our famous 3 course traditional campfire dinner of barramundi, buffalo and
damper cooked on the coals with home made bush jam and native bee 'sugarbag' honey.
We
also have a wine and cheese sunset boat cruise available for group
charters, and by special arrangement, you can view a special
performance by the Karrabarrdar Dancers from Arnhem Land.
We also do bush catering and/or cultural displays for two people up to several hundred at virtually any location in Kakadu! During the wet season we use Kakadu's Bowali Visitor Centre as a night venue for our special Kakadu Cuisine & Culture night. Group bookings need to be made well in advance. Menus can include Barramundi, Buffalo, Kangaroo, Magpie Geese or Crocodile cooked in a variety of ways including ground oven, on the coals, camp oven or BBQ; and we can also cater for vegetarians. How to find US
Kakadu Culture Camp and Djarradjin
Billabong is situated adjacent to the Muirella Park Campground.
We are in the heart of
Kakadu, on Murrumburr clan country. Driving south from Jabiru, we are 25km down
the Kakadu Highway, turn left and drive 6km to the campground, just follow the
signs.
In the dry season, usually from April, you can access Muirella
Park with a conventional 2wd vehicle, motorhome, or bus. It's a sealed road to
our door, only 20 minutes from International standard hotel accommodation at
Jabiru (to the north) or Cooinda (south). Download
a detailed map of Kakadu National Park. You can also get heaps of info about Kakadu and download the Kakadu Park Visitor guide at www.environment.gov.au/parks/kakadu/index
Kakadu Culture Camp is
situated adjacent to Muirella Park Campground so you can bring your own
tent or caravan if you wish, or camp in our deluxe safari tents. The
camp has flushing toilets, solar hot showers and lights, large washing
tubs, excellent drinking water, garbage is collected daily, and the
adjacent billabong has a public boat ramp. You can also
have your own campfire at your tent using the fireplaces provided (you
must collect your own firewood as you drive into camp).
Our on-site manager "Harro" collects camping fees of
A$5.40pp/night.
*Please note that there is no generator zone or powered sites available in the public campground.
