KAKADU BY NIGHT
Spend an evening with a local Bininj (Aboriginal) family sharing culture!
Kakadu
by Night is a cultural experience that features a guided bushtucker
walk along the bank of Djarradjin Billabong and a three course traditional campfire dinner including
Barramundi and Buffalo cooked on the coals, followed by fresh cooked
damper (bush bread) with home-made bush jams, native bee 'sugarbag' honey and cream, tea and coffee.
Enjoy complimentry beer, wine and softdrink with dinner, and for the
ultimate refreshment, try the Kakadu Plum 'Anmorluk' cordial!
After dark, get aboard Kakadu's only night time boat cruise in the World Heritage Area on a specially designed 21 seat boat complete with high safety rails all the way around.
Cruise Djarradjin Billabong with Bininj people while they spotlight for the myriad of Kakadu wildlife that comes alive after dark, including crocodiles, birds, snakes and even Barramudi fish with our underwater spotlight! Your guides are local Aboriginal people who are also Kakadu Park Rangers, so you can hear how Park Rangers manage salt water crocodiles and other plants and animals in the World Heritage Area. Hear how to harpoon, tag (mark) and *"sex" a crocodile!!
Hear night sky stories and the legend of Warramurrunggundji (our logo at top right of page), Creation Mother for the Kakadu people. Using local pandanus fibre, learn basket weaving and make a Kakadu bracelet to take home, have a go at spear throwing under lights and try the didgeridoo. We also have some of our art and craft for sale at special prices when on our tour.
